World Law Internship Program

Currently accepting applications for Spring 2025

  • Semester-long
  • 5-10 hours per week
  • The Spring 2025 session will be held in-person for local students and online for non-local students
  • Must be available during Eastern Time afternoon hours
  • In-depth intern orientation and training
  • Provides experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application in a professional setting
  • Academic credit toward degree (depending on school requirements)
  • Contact clients whose rights have been violated and developing strategies to assist the clients in claiming their rights
  • Conduct letter-writing campaigns to national government officials and petitioning to intergovernmental organizations to expose human rights violations and demand redress
  • Draft affidavits of support and amicus curiae briefs on behalf of asylum applicants
  • Chart the status of client cases and updating client files
  • Answer telephone and email queries regarding immigration and asylum issues and educate the general public about their human rights
  • Perform legal research on human rights (right to freedom of movement & political asylum), world citizenship, and world governance
  • Initiate new projects to enhance the effectiveness of the legal department
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Multilingualism (French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian and German speakers are preferred)
  • Ability to work both independently and with other staff members and interns
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Enthusiasm for and a demonstrated interest in law and human rights
  • Culturally Sensitive
  • Recognize the function of non-profit and public-interest-sector legal work in human rights, international law, peace, and world citizenship
  • Understand and appropriately apply human rights declarations, covenants, treaties as well as customary international law and constitutional law
  • Identify and use legal resources to assist clients in their cases
  • Communicate effectively with clients, national government officials, and intergovernmental organizations
  • Have improved fluency of human rights and international law terminology
  • Demonstrate professional and ethical responsibility

Communications, Marketing, and Public Relations Internship

Currently accepting applications for Spring 2025

  • Semester-long
  • 5-10 hours per week
  • The Spring 2025 session will be held in-person for local students and online for non-local students
  • Must be available during Eastern Time afternoon hours
  • In-depth intern orientation and training
  • Provides experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application in a professional setting
  • Academic credit toward degree (depending on school requirements)
  • Advance the mission and goals of the organization through social media platforms
  • Create written content for social media platforms
  • Produce videos, photos, art, and graphic designs for social media platforms
  • Grow social media following
  • Write and design monthly newsletter and maintain mailing list
  • Network with individuals and organizations to inform them about the organization’s work and to create potential partnerships
  • Research and implement fundraising strategies and crowdfunding campaigns
  • Write grant proposals
  • Initiate new projects to enhance the effectiveness of the organization
  • Strong research, writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Art, graphic design, video, and/or photo-editing skills (required)
  • Experience in social media, networking, media relations, fundraising, and customer service (preferred)
  • Enthusiasm for and a demonstrated interest in human rights
  • Culturally Sensitive
  • Recognize the function of non-profit and public-interest-sector work in human rights, international law, peace, and world citizenship
  • Understand and appropriately apply public relations strategies and social media marketing techniques
  • Identify and use digital resources to further an organization’s mission
  • Communicate effectively with the public using multiple tools and platforms

World Citizen Club Internship

Currently accepting applications for Spring 2025

  • Semester-long
  • 5-10 hours per week
  • Spring 2025 session will be held over Zoom for non-local students and in-person for students in the Washington, DC area
  • In-depth intern orientation and training
  • Provides experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application in a professional setting
  • Academic credit toward degree (depending on school requirements)
  • Educational and activism internship (volunteer/unpaid)
  • Reach out to students at your university to promote and launch a World Citizen Clubs on your campus
  • Determine the requirements for launching a club on campus
  • Develop a detailed guide for creating a World Citizen Club at your university
  • Develop new ideas for club events, projects, programs, and activities
  • Network with student union/student center staff, other student clubs, and organizations to inform them about the World Citizen Club and to create potential partnerships
  • Create written content for social media platforms
  • Produce videos, photos, art, and graphic designs for social media platforms
  • Grow social media following
  • Write articles for student newspapers about the Club
  • Create flyers and posters and display them on high-traffic areas of your campus
  • Obtain information on advertising in/on student newspapers, radio shows, podcasts, etc. and develop Club advertisements
  • Create and maintain email/contact lists of interested students and faculty/staff advisors, and of professors who will provide time for short presentations on the club
  • Research and implement fundraising strategies and crowdfunding campaigns
  • Assist in writing grant proposals
  • Initiate new projects to enhance awareness and expand clubs in your region
  • Develop strategies to promote and launch clubs throughout North America, and eventually the world
  • Strong research, writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Art, graphic design, video, and/or photo-editing skills (required)
  • Experience in social media, networking, media relations, fundraising, and customer service (preferred)
  • Enthusiasm for and a demonstrated interest in human rights, and peace, justice and environmental issues
  • Culturally Sensitive
  • Recognize the function of student clubs in advancing human rights, international law, peace, and world citizenship
  • Understand and appropriately apply public relations strategies and social media marketing techniques
  • Identify and use digital resources to further the mission of World Citizen Clubs
